ASTORIA — The Great Columbia Crossing 10K run/walk is the only chance each year to cross the Astoria Bridge from Washington to Astoria while on foot.

For the first time, the bridge will be closed to vehicles during the event from 8:30 to 11 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 14.

Registration is now open and will close when capacity reaches 3,500 racers. All participants will be timed via electronic chip, and competitive racers will be given a separate start time from walkers.

The $40 registration includes:

• Free parking with shuttle bus service to the start of the race from the Ports of Astoria or Chinook.

• Bib number (required to board shuttle and access bridge).

• Finish line bites and water.

• Five “Clam Bucks,” worth $1 each, can be redeemed at participating businesses from Thursday, Oct. 11, through Wednesday, Oct. 17.
