CANNON BEACH — It’s the perfect time to celebrate puffins, sunshine, the ocean and more!

The Haystack Rock Awareness Program (HRAP) invites everyone to join them for a Summer Block Party, 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 14. Help us fill the Cannon Beach City Hall parking lot as our community gathers in appreciation of the beautiful ecosystem that bands us together.

Kicking off the festivities, Jonathan White, author of “Tides: The Science and Spirit of the Ocean,” will speak about his fascinating study of tides across the globe and share the amazing stories he gathered along the way.

Other entertainment will include face painting, food and live music. HRAP interpreters will be available to answer questions about Haystack Rock, how the sea stars are doing and the puffin population. It will be fun for all ages. The party is free, but donations to the program will be accepted. RSVP on Facebook.

The Haystack Rock Awareness Program, in its 33rd season on the beach, aims to protect, through education, the intertidal and bird ecology of the Marine Garden and National Wildlife Refuge at Haystack Rock.
