ASTORIA — Sunbathe, an indie pop-rock band, performs along with Monica & The Shy Boys, 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the Colombian Theater Voodoo Room. There is a suggested $5 donation.

Sunbathe is composed of members of the bands Typhoon and Genders and who have, collectively, toured with the likes of The Decemberists, Built to Spill, Yann Tiersen, Portugal. The Man and more.

Sunbathe is the devastatingly catchy, fuzzed-out pop band brought to you by songwriter Maggie May Morris. Suffused with lyrical honesty and a raw performance style, Morris commands the stage, coasting along on an abundance of hooks and lighthearted guitar.

Backed by Pieter Hilton and Shannon Steele (Typhoon), Sunbathe has quickly gained notoriety for their captivating live performances.

The self-titled debut from Sunbathe shows the many sides of Morris’ songwriting abilities yet maintains a cohesive structure through radiantly pop-minded arrangements. With another release on the horizon, Sunbathe is one of today’s most promising acts.
