CLATSKANIE — A festival of short indie films is coming to Clatskanie. Promoters Ray and Migdalia Etheridge invite filmmakers from Oregon and Washington to submit their work for consideration.

Films must be no longer than 15 minutes, and may be of any genre, such as comedy, drama, horror, animation or documentary. Filmmakers from anywhere in the world are eligible.

Films will be selected by a five-judge panel on a point system and graded on their technical merits, acting, script and entertainment value.

The judges are not looking for home movies or silly YouTube videos, but for serious, well-made films with good stories, Migdalia said.

Films with the highest points will be screened at the festival, taking place at the Clatskanie Cultural Center in August 2019. Award certificates will be presented in many categories. The Etheridges expect to receive about 150 films; 40 will be selected for the event.
